Minority languages have their own themes, chances and challenges. They are seldomly covered by general artistic festivals, conferences or bookfairs.
Herberch Frisia is an initiative aiming to fill this gap by way of:
After having visited Herberch Frisa you will leave with an increased network of colleagues in European minority language literatures, with inspiration for artistic cross-overs, with new insight in policies in other European minority language regions, and perhaps even with international bookings or translation licenses. But at the very least you will have been greatly inspired and feel a renewed sense of kinship with other minority language artists and professionals.
Fryslân is a beautiful region in the north of the Netherlands, bordering on the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site. In Fryslân, over ten language varieties are in daily use, Frisian and Dutch being the largest of them.
